Gadzooks, I love how this picture turned out. Pen art equals great.
This image depicts the Inu Shibito from the horror gamSiren. One night, mysterious red water begins to fall from the sky, and the mountain village Hanuda finds itself surrounded by an ocean of this strange liquid. A strange siren sounds through the night, and the sound changes the villagers. They change into mindless zombies, and over time, eventually devolve into insectoid humans, all of which are bent on slaying any normal humans they find.
While the word Inu Shibito literally means 'dog corpse person', they seem more like crickets or grasshoppers. They emit high-pitched cricket shrills, grow some sort of stunted antennae from their foreheads, and can effortlessly jump to high places.
Although all the Inu shibito in the game look the same, I drew a blouse, jewelry, and curly hair, to show that these two girls were once ordinary people.
Creepy... and quite wonderfully done I might add. Though I've never played Siren, then again you were probably expecting that not everyone who looks at your art and reads your stories has. Hence exlaining it in the artists comment.
Lol-- to be perfectly honest, so far I can only draw broken chain-link fences. I made an honest attempt at first, but one of the lines of squares curved nightmarishly, so I had to stick holes there and ruler-treat the rest. Thank you, though.
It's not as psychologically unnerving as Silent Hill or other such games... in fact, it doesn't really try to be overly creepy at all-- but what it really is is INTENSE. BECAUSE THEY TAKE AWAY YOUR ABILITY TO KILL THINGS. The shibito only stay down for a few seconds, sometimes only ten seconds, before they get back up again. I glance over my shoulder constantly whenever I'm looking for things, and it's a psychological nightmare, I tell you!

Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
